In 1956, a small group of men were busy organizing a club to enable further enjoyment of their bird dogs.  Little did they know that their efforts would result in such an impact on the dog sport locally, nationally and internationally.  We have progressed from a club that borrowed from its members to buy ground, build buildings, lakes, fertilizer, grass seed etc. to a beautiful facility built by and maintained by its own members that has a healthy bank account and ALL bills are paid in full.  Throughout those years the basic goals laid out by this founding group have been maintained.  The “Bird Dog” has always been the focal point for all the basic activities of the club and that is as it should be, however, this club has entertained itself with square dancing, card parties, duck races, fishing contests, monthly meetings, dinner/dances, Christmas parties etc, etc.

The community activities have included helping needy families, supporting Junior Miss, Amo Little League, farmer fence repair, food plot habitat, hunter safety programs, fishing outings for the handicapped….   Our greatest recognition has evolved from our Shoot-To- Retrieve accomplishments.  In 1969 the leadership from our club initiated the beginning of a sport association known today as the National Shoot-To-Retrieve Association.
