January, News Letter
Hello Members
I hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years.
Thanks to all the members that showed up for the Christmas party and club trial.
Thanks to all the members that helped and participated in the last club trial. Joe Schuler and Rick Alexander did a great job chairing the trial. There seems to be a renewed interest in the club trials. Hope to see everyone again at the next club trial on October 16th
Work Day better known as a Ron Greene day October 15th to prepare for the Dog of the Year Trial. We need your help
We are a couple of weeks away from the clubs biggest trial. October 22nd starts a 4 day triple field trial that is open to all NSTRA members and October 24th starts the Dog of The Year trial. Together there is 8 straight days of trialing. These trials will make a lot of money for the club which in return keeps are dues low but we need help. There will be a sign up sheet posted in the club to sign up. Please look at your schedules and find some time that you can help. We will need help in the kitchen and fields and anyone qualified to judge or field marshal
From Tom Burks The Sycamore Center outing was a great success again this year. We had 68 people from the center and lots of helpers from the CBDC and the CIBM (Central Indiana Bass Masters) and their families and friends. The fishing was great and everyone had a good lunch (we fed over 100 people) Please accept my appreciation for a job well done by the Bird Dog Club members. The treating of the lake, mowing/trimming of the area, set up of the tables/chairs, and helping with the less fortunate fish ect. I won’t mention any names for fear I would miss someone but you know who you are and a special thanks for a job well done. This event is second only to their Christmas party, they really have a good time.
Thanks Tom for organizing this event it’s a great thing for this group and it is good thing for our club to hold this type of outing.
HELLO,
Big Thanks to Mike Clark and Bob Turner for chairing the last NSTRA trial and to the judges and Eli for bird planting and Sharon for handling the kitchen duties
I had the pleasure of judging and seeing some of the places birds were found as Butch Jenkins can attest to I have realized the Eli has an evil side. Butch had the pleasure of trying to flush a bird off the top of a big mound without falling down. After rutting around for 5 minutes up and down the mound Butch was able to get the bird.
Big Thanks to Pat Cassel and Ron Green for working in the fields.
ATTENTION: Please keep ATVs off the newly planted strips and the strips that were planted last year
Big Thanks to Rick Alexander for fixing the clubs tractor. Rick it was good to see you at the club. Hope to see you around more.
Summer Trials are starting this weekend. It’s hot but we have a good time these trials so get signed up for the next one. The summer trials are Open/Armature format.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
1)	NSTRA 6/11/2011
2)	NSTRA 6/25-26/2011 JR Coke 317-654-8402
3)	Club Meeting 6/14/2011 Wayne Fishburn 317-509-0312
4)	Club Trial Awards at the July 12TH Club Meeting

ATTENTION: WORK DAY is scheduled for Saturday 25th of June.
HELLO

Congratulations to JR and Roger Parient for their impressive finishes at the Quail Invitational. Roger had 2 dogs make it to the final 8 and one to the final 4. Roger got very ill from the heat on the last day and was unable to handle jack on his last run. Having 2 dogs make it that far is impressive but also very hard on the body running back to back in that heat. JR made to the final 8 and if not for some bad luck with a tree would have made it to the final 4.
April is going to be a busy month for the club with 2 NSTRA Trials, Indiana Region Elimination trial, and 1 club trial. The Champions Trial at the end of April is very important to the club. We need to make sure the grounds are in order to insure there is no reason that NSTRA members will want to move the trial. The club had to fight to keep the trial a couple of years ago. The trial last 4 days and we are responsible for cooking breakfast and lunch, trash, filling water barrels at the end of the day and general clean up. Call Sharon if you can help in the kitchen 317-435-5791 and any time you can show up to lend a hand will be appreciated. It takes a lot of work from club members.
We are not going to schedule a work day before the champions trial due to the busy schedule in April but these things need to get done before the champions trial. Please give me a call if you can work on any of these things so I can give you the details. Wayne Fishburn 317-509-0312
1)	Fence repairs.
A)	South East corner of A field
B)	Behind bird pen
C)	Between A and B field
D)	C field
2)	Trees that fell into fields need cut up and removed in B and C fields
3)	Steps and rail need fixed at B field shelter
4)	Door needs fixed at C field shelter
5)	Clean the club house a few days before trial
UPCOMING EVENTS:
CLUB TRIAL on March 19th this will be a double trial. Call Ryan Deckard to schedule 317-508-8071. The deadline for entering dogs in club trials is the Tuesday before trial.
Tis season for giving—and we would like to give A BIG THANK YOU to everyone that helped to make Dog of the Year a huge success. It takes a lot of work, and most of it is behind the scene. A lot of great club members worked many long hard hours to get things ready. Work days were just a few times that work and preparations were done.
Thank you to all who made the great pies and cakes and again Jim and Deanna Hasler gave us a “sugar high”, thanks guys.
Joe Schuhler had donated a gun cabinet that was raffled at Dog of the Year and Charlie Hostelier was the lucky winner, I understand it is being made from black cherry wood, sounds beautiful, thanks Joe.
A special thank you goes to Joe Dunigan and his daughter Ashley, they came out to the club every evening, hauled out supplies, stocked things and prepared the kitchen for the next day’s business.
Dog of the Year was a very profitable trial for our club, and with our good national trials, we are able to keep our dues reasonable.
If you haven’t been out to take a look at the back room come out, the view from the 2nd floor is really neat. We don’t want to forget Wayne Fishburn and Ron Greene they have been great assets in organizing the back room work, thanks guys.
As the fall trials have come to a close a big thank you goes out to our trial chairmen and everyone that rode those 4-wheelers all day and judged without you we couldn’t be successful.
Rick Alexlander has completed the winter maintenance on our tractor and also gave a generous donation to our Christmas Party, thanks Rick for all you do.
As your board we would like to invite each and every club member and your family to attend our Christmas Party on December 18th. Dinner will be served at 2PM, following the club trial. Dinner will be provided by the club, anyone wanting to bring a dessert would be appreciated. We are expecting a visit from Santa Clause around 3PM.
October was a busy month around the club. We had a club trial, 2 day NSTRA Trial, Top 16 trial, and the biggest trial of the year Dog of the Year Trial that started on a Monday with Practice and the trial from Wednesday to Saturday. All these trials were a success. Thanks to all the members that put forth the effort to make it happen. There are too many trials to list all the results we will give trial results at the next Club meeting November 9th
BIG THANKS to the members that have helped with Dog of the Year Trial it was a lot of work and a few members were there every day cooking cleaning etc.
There has been a tremendous amount of work done in the last couple of months and unfortunately it’s been done by a few members maybe 10%. I know some of the work is beyond what is normal work around the club and some members are not able to participate for numerous reasons and that’s ok but there should have been more members participating. We only had about 4 or 5 members show up the last work day. The club spent $200.00 on deserts. I don’t think it’s too much to ask for members to donate a pie, cookies or something. It is not right that a hand full of members take care of the club and club grounds, and trial prep so the other 100 plus members can come out and enjoy the club. Members are required to give 16 hours of service a year or you can elect the non participating membership that cost $250.00 instead of $150.00, so take your pick put in your 16 hours or send in the extra $100.00.
I want to thank JR’s 2 girls and Eli for the work they have done around the club. Eli has done a lot of mowing filling water barrels and JR’s girls did a great job painting the dog statues out front and they were a big help to me carrying arm loads of 2x4 up the stairs for me when I was installing the frame work upstairs to hold paneling. JR you should be proud you have some great kids. Also Thanks to Chase for helping Daddy Joe out with the electric in the back room. It is sad to think that these kids have done more work than 75% of our members.
Attention:	December club trial date has been changed to Dec. 18th
Glenns Valley Trial has been changed from Dec. 18th and 19th to Dec. 11th and 12th

UPCOMING EVENTS:
1)	CLUB MEETING 11/09/10
2)	CLUB TRIAL 12/18/10
3)	PIKE COUNTY NSTRA TRIAL Nov. 13th & 14th
4)	CBDC NSTRA TRIAL Nov. 20th & 21st
5)	CBDC NSTRA TRIAL Dec. 4th & 5th
6)	GLENNS VALLEY NSTRA TRIAL Dec. 11th & 12th
HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE AT THE NEXT CLUB MEETING Nov. 9th
YOUR BOARD MEMBERS
